Taking an Exam
You should already have a password and be able to login to MapleTA. If not, follow the directions here.
- Login to MapleTA.
- Click on the name of your class.
- Click on the name of the exam you need to take:
- Online Exam (Stage 1): You can take this exam from any computer with internet access. You must pass before you'll be allowed to take an In-Lab Exam in the Gateway Lab, and before the deadline. You can take it as many times as you need to pass. It's worth 10 of the 100 Gateway points, but if you do not pass it, you lose all 100 points!
- In-Lab Exam (Stage 2): This exam is just like the Online and Practice Exams, but you take it in the Gateway Lab between when the lab opens for you and the deadline. In the lab you can not use your calculator, phone, or any notes, but scratch paper will be provided. Passing the In-Lab Exam earns you all of the other 90 points for the Gateway.
- Practice Exam: You can take this exam at any time, but it doesn't count for any points. You do not ever have to take one, either. It's there so you always have some place to practice.
- You need to get 8 questions right (out of 10) to pass any of the exams. "Right" answers are completely perfect -- no typos or mistakes.
- Use "Back", "Next", and "Question Menu" at the top of the page to navigate through the test. Using your browser buttons instead could cause errors.
- All of the exams have a time limit of 32 minutes. When the time runs out, finish the question you're on and press "Grade" to end the exam.
- When you are done, click on "Grade". It will show you a list of possible errors. Follow the links to fix them, or press "Grade" again.
- Your score and any special messages will come up on the screen. You can click "View Details" to see how you did on each question, or "Quit and Save" to exit the exam.
If you are taking an exam in the lab, you will need to bring your writing utensil of choice and your KU ID. You will not be allowed to bring your own scratch paper, your calculator, or anything else.

Otherwise, you probably should look at the exam questions page.
