Practice Skills Tests
- To practice a skills test, and to take them for credit in the KAP lab, students must first register and receive a username and password from the Maple TA System. Follow these steps:
- Register for a username and password.
- Enter your KU username and password. (The same one used to access Enroll and Pay.)
- Click on the button that says "Submit."
- You will be redirected to a new page. Click on the link that says "Retrieve your password."
- Carefully look at your user name. It will be slightly different from your KU on-line username. This user name is case sensitive.
- Click on the link "Click here to set your password," and enter the password you would like in each box. This is now your Maple TA password. Please remember it.
- Follow the link to log-in to Maple TA.
Most Common Error Message
Login unsuccessful: Invalid user login and/or password.
Enter the username and password again to make sure you typed it correctly. If you think you copied it down incorrectly, you can go through the process again to get a new password.

Preparing for the Skills Tests
- Study the questions found in the Supplementary Study Guide.
- Once students are well-prepared, they must come to the KAP Math Lab in Room 323 Strong to take the test for credit.
- The tests are administered by computer and consist of a random set of 15 questions, similar to the questions you have studied.
- You may take the Skills test any time during the hours of operation.
Passing the Skills Tests
- Students are required to answer 12 out of 15 questions correctly to pass a Skills Test with 80% proficiency. Skills Test are to be completed before taking each of the written exams.
- Any student who passes the Skills Test on or before the deadline will receive 10 points.
- If the deadline is missed, the Skills Test will be worth only 5 points.
- Students are limited to attempting a Skills Test only twice in a 30 minute period.
