Launch Apple Mail, then choose Mail -> Preferences and highlight the account you want to configure in the left hand selection pane.
Check to make sure that your Email Address, and User Name are correct, and that the Incoming Mail Server field is set to mail.math.ku.edu. You may enter your account password if you don't want Apple Mail to prompt you when you check for new mail. Leave it blank if you prefer to be prompted for a password. Ensure that the SMTP drop down menu is set to either mail.math.ku.edu, or mail.math.ku.edu:<your user name here>. Either one will work fine. Now click the Server Settings... button.
Make sure the Outgoing Mail Server is mail.math.ku.edu; Server port is 465; and ensure that the Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) box is selected.
If you are using Kerberos on your system choose Kerberos Version 5 (GSSAPI) for Authentication. Enter your username and leave the password field blank and click OK.
If you are not using Kerberos then choose Password for Authentication, enter your username and password then click OK.
Next, choose the advanced tab:
Select the Use SSL box. This should automatically change the Port to 993. If the Port does not read 993, then type it in manually.
