Local Information

The weather in Lawrence in mid March is cool, with an average high in the mid 50's Fahrenheit (around 12 degrees Celsius) and an average low in the low 40's Fahrenheit (around 5 degrees Celsius).

The conference will be held on campus in Wescoe. The Mathematics Department Department is in Snow Hall. Campus parking is available behind Snow Hall and nearby parking lots. Parking is open and free on Saturday and Sunday. Friday requires a parking permit. There are two parking garages, each about a 10-minute walk from Snow Hall. Bus service is available every day except Sunday between campus and downtown. Be sure to check the bus schedule for the dates you will be here.

KU offers a guest wireless network, KUGUEST. You can access this though your wireless devices by selecting KUGUEST from your network control panel.

Downtown Lawrence has a large number of restaurants, with many price ranges and a wide variety of cuisines. Located in the lower level of Wescoe, The Underground food court and the Pulse Coffee bar operated by KU Dining Services, will be open Friday (until 5:00 pm) and Saturday (11:00 am – 2:00 pm). The Oread Hotel just off campus has several restaurants with many price ranges.

The University of Kansas has two excellent museums: a Natural History Museum, and the Spencer Art Museum.

Lawrence also has a widely-known music scene, with a number of clubs downtown, various folk music venues around town, and several concert halls.

Attractions in Kansas City:
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas city has some world class collections. For instance, there is one room displaying four original pieces of Claude Monet, and one room with works of Caravaggio, there is also a small but excellent Chinese collection dated back to the Shang dynasty.
