Mathematics Competition

at three levels: Elementary, Junior High and High School




The competition is divided up into three age groups: fifth and sixth grade, junior high (7th, 8th and 9th) and senior high school (10th, 11th and 12th). This year 110 students competed for prizes given to the top three places in each age group. The prizes will be awarded at the Mathematics Department's Honors Banquet, April 23.

All the participant students did an outstanding job!!! The Department of Mathematics at KU wants to congratulate all the students and their teachers and parents for these achievements.

Elementary School Level

First Place(tie): Daniel Bird, Quail Run Elementary

Third Place: Maziar Adloo, Harmony Elementary

Honorable Mention: Stephanie Claar, Harmony Middle School; Yoshika Crider, Schwegler Elementary; Andy Krantz, Harmony Middle School; Sue Phan, Hillcrest Elementary

Junior High Level (7th, 8th and 9th Grade )

First Place: William Carlson, Shawnee Mission South

Second Place: Kyle Chauvin, West Junior High

Third Place: Alan Sneegas, West Junior High

Honorable Mention: Deepyaman Datta, Southwest Junior High; Glen Reeves, Indian Hills Middle School

Senior High Level (10th, 11th and 12th)

First Place: Nathaniel Twarog, Free State High

Second Place: Lin Yi, Lawrence High

Third Place: Nathan Markham, Free State High

Honorable Mention: Hamsa Subramaniam, Lawrence High
