Professional Interests

I am a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Kansas. I received my PhD from the University of Texas at Austin in 1982 and have been at KU since 1984. My research interests primarily lie in the field of commutative algebra, with tangential interests in homological algebra, algebraic geometry and computational algebra. Among the topics I am particularly interested in are the asymptotic theory of ideals, multiplicity theory, Rees algebras of ideals and modules and homological problems in mixed characteristic. In particular, attempting to construct finite Cohen-Macaulay modules of maximal dimension over abelian extensions of regular local rings of mixed characteristic has occupied much of my time over the last six years.
