There are two common exams for these courses. The midterm will be held
Tuesday
October 14, 2007 from 5:45-7:45 pm and the final will be held
Thursday, December 18,
2007 from 4:30-7:00 pm.
You must attend these exams at these times. Plane tickets, employment, weddings etc do not constitute excused absences.
A graphing calculator such as the TI-83, TI-83-Plus, or
TI-84 is required for
this course. The instructor will be using a TI-84.
Homework will be assigned
from the textbooks
for most sessions and graded by a grader. Each homework assignment will be due
at the beginning of the class period on the date due. No late homework
assignment will be
accepted. Members of the class are encouraged to study together but EACH must
write out their solutions to the assigned problems. HOMEWORK IS WORTH A FULL LETTER GRADE IN THIS COURSE!
Information regarding the Gateway can be found at the following link.
All gateways will be taken on-line. Be sure to read the page labeled
"Read this first"!
Gateway Exam Webpage
Attendance is required and is worth 25% of your quiz grade. Unexcused
absences will result in a loss of 5 percentage points per absence.
All students will need internet access to get the assignments
and read course announcements. KU will provide you with an account and there are labs on
campus with computers available.
Class related material such as assignments and announcements
will be posted on my web site daily.
Your grade will be determined by the number of points that you accumulate. A
maximum of 1000 points is possible.

eligible students with disabilities. If you have a disability and wish to request
accommodations and have not contacted DR, please do so as soon as possible. Their office
is located in 22 Strong Hall; their phone number is 785-864-2620 (V/TTY). Information
about their services can be found at http://www.disability.ku.edu/. Please also contact me

Policy on Academic Misconduct
According to University Senate Rules and Regulations, Section 6, Academic
Misconduct is: "2.6.1 Academic misconduct by a student shall include, but
not be limited to, disruption of classes; threatening an instructor or

Homework Assignments, Working in Groups, Tutors
Students may
discuss the
homework problems in groups, but each student is responsible for doing
his/her own work and in turning in his/her individual solutions. When a
student works with a tutor, it is the responsibility of both the student
and the tutor to ensure that it is the student who works to arrive at the
solutions of the problems. Tutors should not do students' homework for
them or provide them the solutions for their instructors' assignments.

all lectures and review sessions presented by the instructor are the

review sessions without the consent of the instructor is prohibited.
Permission to make such recordings may be granted by the instructor on a
case by case basis, on the condition that these recordings are used only
as a study aid by the individual making the recording. Unless explicit
permission is obtained from the instructor, recordings of lectures and
review sessions may not be modified and must not be transfered or
transmitted to any other person, whether or not that individual is
enrolled in the course.
