Gateway Examination
The Gateway Examination consists of ten (10) suitably randomly chosen functions
from the list available at this web site that consists of one hundred
seventy-three (173) functions. To pass the examination, you must differentiate
at least nine (9) of the ten functions without any errors. You do not need to
simplify the derivatives, but if you do, the simplification must also be
error-free. Calculators are not allowed for the Gateway Exam. The Kansas Algebra
Program (KAP) administers the Gateway Exam in room 324 Strong. Your KU ID and
your instructor's name are required to take the exam. The Gateway Exam is not a
timed test. You may retake the Gateway Exam, but no more than once per day and
not more that twice per week. The schedule for taking the Gateway Exam is:
Monday through Thursday 7:30 am - 7:30 pm
Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
KAP will not administer the Gateway Exam on the following dates: March 7, 8, 9
and April 5, 6.
The last day to take the Gateway Exam is April 7.
