Math 290 - Elementary Linear Algebra
Systems of Linear Equations, Matrices, Vector Spaces, Linear Transformations, Applications.

Text Book: Elementary Linear Algebra, Larson, Edwards and Falvo.

Topics

1.  System of linear equations, Gaussian elimination, applications. 
2.  Matrices, operations, properties, inverses, applications 
3.  Determinants, properties, applications
4.  Vector spaces, simple examples, linear independence, basis, rank of a matrix, applications.
6.  Linear transformations, matrix representation, compositions, dilations, reflections, rotations, etc.. 
7.  Eigenvalues and eigenvectors, applications. 
5.  Brief introduction of inner product.  Least squares approximations.
 

Prerequisite
MATH 122 or Math 142 or equivalent. Not open to students with credit in MATH 590. Use of a graphing calculator is strongly encouraged.
