Highschool Life
Then I entered junior high school when I
was 11 years old. I lived on campus, and went back home once a week
by bike. I was very strict to my classmates as well as to myself.
As the head of the class, I expected them to obey the rules strictly,
which kept some of my classmates away from communicating with me.
I don't think I was a good student leader at that time.
During summer break, I had fun at home, catching
fish, loach and eel with my elder brother and friends. During winter
break, I enjoyed good food and happy time.
In 1993, I was matriculated by the senior
high school without entrance examination. Then I went back home
once a month by bus. I was mostly focusing on study in senior high
school, though sometimes I enjoyed playing harmonica or reading
books. I like playing, but the life was full of study at that time.
I was so shy that every time when I stood up to announce something
in class, my face would always turn red. I didn't expect everyone
to do the same as I do, and I knew that everyone is different. So
I had good friendship with most of my classmates. The life in highschool
was simple, but provided me with good foundation of basic math,
physics, and chemistry for further study.
Undergraduate Life
In September 1996, I enrolled in University
of Petroleum at Beijing. Then I went back home once a year by train.
In the first year, I thought shyness was not a very good thing,
so I decided to become more active, Then I joined several clubs,
such as Student Union, New Life Literature Club, Campus Newspaper,
Youth Volunteer Unit, and Dining Management Unit. I really changed
and learned a lot by taking part in those activities. And also,
I traveled around Beijing a little bit during the first year.
But from the beginning of the second year,
I was very busy with classes, so I had to drop out from those clubs
one by one, and focused on study because I had to study well in
order to obtain scholarships to support my tuitions and living expenses.
Thanks for my hard work, I could obtain several scholarships every
year which could cover my tuition and living fees.
In January 1999, when I was a junior, I
took the Graduate Entrance Examination, and got a score of 410 over
500, which ranked the second among over 2,000 applicants who applied
to that university. Then I became a graduate student as well as
a senior student in Septermter 1999.
