I woke up at about 6:20am, and stayed in the bed till 7:20am. I was ready for Analysis Qualifying exam, and planned to study Algebra a little bit this afternoon and tonight, after the Analysis exam in the morning. I walked to school at 8:30am. The room was not open yet, so I talked with Mingji, and Joyti. A few more people came, including Jian and Xiaoming, who had passed the Analysis exam. I thought they came to study for Algebra exam. But after talking for a while, I knew that they came for the Algebra exam today. Oh, my God! I realized that I made the same mistake last time for qualifying exams
I was focusing on Analysis and ignored Algebra since it did not mean anything if I do not pass Analysis even if I pass Algebra. So I did not study for Algebra, and planned to study a little bit after Analysis exam. But I was wrong again. Algebra exam is today, and Analysis exam is tomorrow But anyway, it does not matter much, since I know a little more study will not help much.
The room was open then, and we went in. Eight students showed up and two did not. There were totally five problems, with the last one having six questions. I read through the problems, but had no idea. Two of them seemed to be too easy, so I knew I must be wrong. The last one was about the material I planned to study but did not. And the other two, I might not work them out even if I prepared for them.
After working on them about 50 minutes, I could not focus then. So I decided to give up and walked out the room, and wish good luck to other students who were still working on the exam.
I was unhappy not because I could not pass Algebra, but because I made the same mistake again Now I have time to study a little more about Analysis. I hope I can pass Analysis tomorrow, but not sure. If I pass it, then I will study Algebra for the next chance. If I do not pass, it might be the time to give up. After all, I really don't like taking exams.
